Congratulations to Dr Nicholas Werren for being one of only seven winners of the prestigious British Science Association’s Award Lecture series for 2024! The Award Lecturers are a cohort of UK-based, early career researchers who are being recognised for cutting-edge work in their field and their commitment to public engagement efforts, furthering the reach of their work.
Nick won the lecture award for Physical Sciences and Mathematics and gave a lecture entitled ‘Making Sense of Nature’s Mess’, representing Heriot-Watt University, at the annual British Science Festival, hosted this year by the University of East London. His lecture focussed on modelling open quantum systems, how nature uses quantum physics and how we can bring these things together to develop new quantum technologies. A great achievement Nick, huge congrats!
