With collaborators in Germany, Korea, Sweden and the US, we studied the V1 line associated with the silicon vacancy in SiC. Our work, published in Physical Review Applied, shows more than 40% optical emission in the zero-phonon line and spin coherence up to 0.6 msec (for an ensemble). These features are very promising for spin-photon interfacing in a technological material! We’re currently extending this work to single centres: stay tuned!
