Prof. Gerardot is awarded a Royal Academy Chair in Emerging Technology!

By Sarah Nutt27th March 2018

Prof. Gerardot is honoured to have been awarded a Royal Academy Chair in Emerging Technology. The 10 – year fellowship aims to develop integrated two-dimensional photonics.

New paper!

By Cristian Bonato25th March 201825th March 2018

With collaborators in Germany, Korea, Sweden and the US, we studied the V1 line associated with the silicon vacancy in SiC. Our work, published in Physical Review Applied, shows more than 40% optical emission in the zero-phonon line and spin coherence up to 0.6 msec (for an ensemble). These features are very promising for spin-photon…

Congratulations to Zak, who has won the HWU Chess Club Championship in 2018!

By Sarah Nutt8th March 2018

A new Post-Doc Position in Two-Dimensional Heterostructures for Photonics is available. https://www.hw.ac.uk/about/work/jobs/job_SVJDMTM4NTI.htm http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/BIB040/research-associate-in-two-dimensional-heterostructures-for-photonics Please contact Prof. Brian Gerardot for more information.

Welcome Daniel!

By Cristian Bonato1st March 20187th March 2018

Daniel White joined us today, to start a PhD on the study of spin-active defects in SiC embedded in photonic and electronic devices. For this, he will build a new setup in our newly-refurbished lab, DB2.14. Good luck, Daniel!
