Our new cryostat has been successfully installed! Everything went smoothly and we are excited to use the Attodry800 from attocube for experiments in 2D integrated photonics and quantum defects in SiC devices.

Daniel Andres has joined us for 4 months from the University of Valencia to work on experiments involving luminescent properties of 2D materials based in h-BN, WSe2 and InSe as part of his PhD work – Welcome to Heriot-Watt University Dani!

Prof. Gerardot is honoured to have been awarded a Royal Academy Chair in Emerging Technology. The 10 – year fellowship aims to develop integrated two-dimensional photonics.

Dr Juan Francisco Sanchez Royo has joined us from Valencia for four months as a visiting scholar, to work on experiments involving luminescent properties of 2D materials based in h-BN, WSe2 and InSe.

Today our EPSRC 2D Photonics Fabrication Facility received its first instrument: an Accurion EP4 Imaging Ellipsometer. We are excited to start using this to characterise and construct new 2D photonic devices!
